Hokkaido Sports College


Hokkaido Sports College is a certified training school that enables students to acquire sports-related qualifications in a short space of time. It is one of the few Japan Sports Association-certified schools in Hokkaido, and aims to train sports leaders with advanced skills and well-rounded characters. First-rate instructors help students to achieve their goals through specialized education.

Sports Future Department (four years)
The primary focus is to acquire the qualifications needed by health fitness instructors, who must be specialists in sports and health. Students also learn about the sport-related business they will encounter in their careers.

Sports Trainer Department (three years)
Students aim to become medical trainers, and learn about the meaning of sport from the viewpoints of medicine and welfare.
Students also aim to become athletics trainers, learn about the latest sports science and acquire a range of related knowledge and skills.

Sports Health Department (two years)
Students gain hands-on experience demonstrating the allure of sport, improve their leadership abilities and aim to become sports instructors, personal trainers or sports leaders.

Our school works with J-League soccer team Consadole Sapporo and Japan Basketball League team Rera Kamuy Hokkaido, dispatching students to the squads for practical training as trainers.

Partnership in practical training with high schools, universities and business organizations
We work with high schools, universities and business organizations in a variety of sports. Students also receive practical training unique to Hokkaido in winter sports such as ski jumping.

Our curriculum includes many internship programs to provide students with practical experience in professional work.

Special lectures are held featuring invited prominent figures in the world of sport.
Mr. Shoji Jo, a former Japan national soccer team player
Mr. Jo served as a lecturer in 2007, and provided strong encouragement to students aspiring to become trainers.

Mr. Iwamoto served as a lecturer in 2006. He delivered a lecture on the needs of trainers among athletes, including anecdotes from when he was a player himself.
